For those of you tired of searching Google, Yahoo, etc., and being inundated with paid rankings…Wikia Search is here. It’s a community-driven search engine, meaning they don’t rank results based on the highest bidder, and they don’t count results from link farms (which is how Andy’s official site beat us in Google rankings).
I often get emails from students researching McNab who went to the “official” site and found no real information and no up-to-date news–and yet Google ranks them above us.
I’m sure Andy’s people (and others) will find a way to cheat this new system as well, but for now I implore you to use Wikia Search to get real results.
Ah I understand your enthusiasm.. we’re 3rd in list there – just above the official site

Hi,
Simon from AndyMcNab.co.uk here.
Just a quick one – we aren’t using link farms. I know which sites you mean, and I have a feeling that’s to do with our Google Adwords campaign. They’re just showing Google Ads to try and get money – it seems a bit strange that Google would index based on their own adverts though.
As I’m the person that has done all of the SEO on Andy’s website, I’m 100% sure we haven’t used any bad tactics to get our ranking on Google.
There’s not much we can do if spammers get hold of our links. If you know of anything, please do let me know.
Cheers,
Simon
PS. Just so you know, the “search that works” is being slated across the tech community for doing the exact opposite. See here:

In the end the one thing we can conclude is that Andy’s Official website and his Nr1 Fansite are doing very well in ranks – so PR is going great
